Therapist InfoAbout Me:
I am a licensed Registered Clinical Counsellor operating out of Vancouver, British Columbia, and a university professor in the field of counselling psychology. I graduated with distinction from Simon Fraser University with a BA in Psychology and graduated from the University of British Columbia with my MA in Counselling Psychology.
I have worked in the field of psychology for nearly 15 years in a variety of different roles that typically moved between educator, facilitator, and clinician in some form or another. I started my clinical work as a behavioural interventionist while in my undergrad and later moved into the role of a behavioural consultant working primarily with young adults with varying exceptionalities (primarily autism).
In my clinical counselling journey, I completed 4 years of crisis and suicide prevention work, and several more years of trauma psychotherapy, and over the past 5 years, I have done a deep dive into the psychedelic world. My clinical interests have included working with men, in particular military populations, and male survivors of sexual abuse, however, I have worked with a variety of different populations and with many different mental health challenges in my career. I am lucky to be able to draw on my eclectic training and background when doing this work.
One of the reasons I decided to get into the field of counselling was because of the struggles I had with mental health throughout my life. At varying points, I dealt with anxiety and depression alongside a chronic health condition which made me want to help others in their struggle. When I am not working (which is rare!) I enjoy being physically active as I believe this is an integral part of mental health and my work as a clinician. I like to hike, bike, run, and hit the gym just to name a few of the activities.Description of Services:
In my clinical practice, I offer in-person and online support for clients. I offer traditional psychotherapy sessions as well as psychedelic prep and integration through a research-based lens. I am trained in a variety of therapy modalities including Acceptance-Commitment Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy, Emotion-Focused Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, and others.
I also come from a very strength-based approach in my work with clients as I believe in true resilience and in the power of the human spirit to survive and thrive under the most challenging of circumstances. I believe this lens informs everything I do including my clinical work as well as my teaching. I make sure that clients feel safe and secure in the work they do with me while still allowing them the freedom to explore the often challenging life events that occur to each and every one of us. Coming from a background where I struggled with serious chronic health conditions has given me a certain perspective on life and my approach to it. I do my very best with each and every client I work with and tend to go above and beyond for both my clients and students.Credentials & Certifications: MA Counselling Psychology, Registered Clinical Counsellor, MAPS-Trained MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy, Emotion-Focused Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy , Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (3rd year)Licenses: Registered Clinical Counsellor (#18794)

Our ProcessOverview of Experience:
Our setting for this work to take place will be the beautiful rainforests of British Columbia as North Vancouver offers the perfect set and setting for this journey. Preparation for this work typically begins with an intake session, followed by two or three 60-minute “prep sessions” which will help us build a therapeutic relationship and give space for me to get to know your personal story. I will also help guide you through the literature on the different types of medicines so that you feel confident in your knowledge of the topic. There will also be two or three post-experience integration sessions where we will maximize the experience and the impact it will have on your life story. On the final day of our integration sessions, we will close our work together with a review of all the learning that has taken place throughout our time together and look at future plans and options for the work that has been done.Intake Process:
Working together always starts with a 20-minute no-fee phone or Zoom call to ensure "goodness of fit" for doing this work as I believe this is massively important to the process. If we both decide to proceed, you will be mailed an intake form that will attempt to capture your biopsychosocial history (a complicated way of saying background info) and a biomedical assessment form that will further review your physical history and past psychedelic experience (if any). Once these items are received and compiled together, we will set up a date and time for our initial 60-minute intake meeting. During intake, all your information will be reviewed for consistency to ensure nothing important is missing and that this is the right time for you. We will then begin to formulate a plan that is personalized to you and your therapeutic goals.
